Week 2 modelling study

For this week's self-study I've made two models - a simple barrel and a model of the Hobart City Council Headquarters.

The barrel is just a cylinder with scaled ends, and an extruded loop on either side as the hoops.

The HCC Building is more complex. But for the facade, the building is made from repeating segments, most of whose difficulty comes from the windows, the multiple layers of which can lead to awkward geometries like  overlapping edges, faces with zero area, or unnecessary vertices in the middle of straight edges. Many times throughout the modelling I had to delete bugged faces and edges and rebuild sections of the model from just the vertices.

In usual low-poly style, I kept the palette small, with only five colors, of which most of the building only used three.

My reference images were all borrowed from online sources - news articles, flickr, and Google street view.
